OUR STORY
About Kat's St. Pete
Animal Care
Hi, I'm Kat! I've been caring for dogs in my St. Petersburg home for 7 years, and what started as a passion has grown into something I'm truly proud of.
At Kat's, your dog isn't just a client — they're part of the family for the day. My teenagers are right alongside me, all experienced dog handlers through 4 years of 4-H dog club where they train, show, and compete.
When your dog is here, there are real people who genuinely love dogs caring for them all day long. We keep our group small on purpose. We believe in calm over chaos, structure over stress, and cozy over crowded. Our dogs thrive here — and yours will too.

What Dog Parents Are Saying

★★★★★
"I've been taking my dog here for 3+ years. Such a great family and I always know my baby is well cared for while I'm gone."
— Lindsay L.

★★★★★
"Our best boy Connor has been coming to Kat's for 4 years. She treats him as if he were her own pup and gives me incredible peace of mind. She's been extremely flexible, dependable, and willing to take him sometimes at the last minute. He always enjoys going to what has become his second home. I really do not know what we'd do without her!?"
— Leslie M.

★★★★★
"My dogs love Kat! I have an elderly dog that requires a lot of special attention. I get photos every day and she looks better when I pick her up than when I drop her off! I've been training dogs for companionship and competition for 20+ years and am incredibly picky about who takes care of my pets. Kat's St. Pete Animal Care is always my go-to!"
— Liz P.
FAQ
What Dog Parents Ask Us Most
+ Do you require a meet & greet?
We prefer a meet and greet before your first visit. Every dog is different and we want to make sure we're the right fit for your pup — their comfort and happiness here is what matters most to us.
+ What size dogs do you accept?
We welcome small, medium, and large dogs up to the size of a pointer, golden retriever, or doodle. Unfortunately, we don't have space for giant breeds.
+ Do you accept puppies?
Yes, with a puppy rate of $45/day. Keep in mind puppies require extra attention and energy — we want to make sure it's the right fit for everyone.
+ What dogs are not a good fit?
We may not be the right fit for aggressive dogs, dogs that resource guard, or dogs with high anxiety. High anxiety dogs often do best in a one-on-one environment where they are the only dog.
+ Do you administer medication?
Yes, we can administer pill medications, eye drops, ear drops, and basic wound care. Please let us know in advance about any medical needs your dog has.
+ What about food allergies?
Please always notify us of any food allergies your dog has. We provide healthy treats and want to make sure everything we give your dog is safe for them.
+ What should I bring for my dog?
Please bring your dog's own food and any medications they need. Everything else is up to you and what makes your dog most comfortable. We have beds, bowls, toys, treats, and enrichment activities here, but if your dog has a favorite blanket, bed, or even a t-shirt that smells like you, you're welcome to bring it. You're also welcome to bring treats. We do ask that you leave personal toys at home — toys tend to circulate among the group and stuffed toys can get destroyed, and we want to avoid any resource guarding situations.
+ Is your space secure?
Yes — our dog run is fully enclosed and sits inside our enclosed backyard, so dogs are double-enclosed at all times outdoors. Inside the home, dogs are gated out of the bedrooms and remain in the main common areas where they can be supervised.
+ Will I get updates while my dog is with you?
Yes — we send photos and videos throughout the day, especially for newer clients. We want you to feel confident and at ease knowing your dog is happy and well cared for. If anything comes up — whether it's a behavioral concern, a health issue, or just something out of the ordinary — we will reach out to you immediately. Communication is important to us and we never want you to be the last to know anything about your dog's day.
+ Is crate training required?
Crate training is strongly preferred for both daycare and overnight stays. While it's not required, it gives us flexibility to make sure every dog has a comfortable, safe space when needed. We run a small group and occasionally dogs need a quiet break from each other — having crate-trained dogs allows us to rotate rest time, use x-pens, or give a dog their own space in the yard without any stress. We are a working household and there are rare occasions when all of us need to step out briefly — crate trained dogs make those moments smooth and safe for everyone.
+ Are you insured?
Yes, we carry pet sitter's insurance to cover any medical emergencies that are our responsibility.
